If your skin is looking dry, dull and flaky chances there’s no need to splash out on moisturizing creams and lotions. Not only are they often quite expensive, they also have chemicals added to keep the ingredients stable and they don’t offer any actual nourishment for your skin. Luckily there are plenty of easy and affordable alternatives – truly nourishing potions that you can make yourself from everyday, fresh ingredients to get the soft, smooth skin you deserve. Mash a well ripened banana in a dish and smooth over your skin before massaging gently. Bananas are nature’s wonder fruit, packed with potassium and vitamins that your skin will love.
Honey and cinnamon mask
Mix a couple of teaspoons of set honey in a dish with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and apply the mixture evenly to the face. After 15-20 minutes gently wash it off with warm water. Honey is packed with antioxidants and lots of other goodness that feeds your skin.
Legend has that Queen Cleopatra bathed in milk, so why can’t you? Simply dip some cotton wool into full fat milk and gently wipe your face. The lactic acid in the milk helps banish dark patches with no fuss. Do this at night and then wash your face as normal in the morning.
Avocado mash or oil
Mash a ripe avocado fruit in a dish and massage into your face, washing it off gently after about 15 minutes. The good fats, antioxidants and vitamins are great at smoothing skin. You can also apply avocado oil overnight for a similar effect.
Olive oil is well known for being great for skin as it helps balance the natural pH of our skin, as well as being packed with antioxidants which help keep skin looking young. For this recipe though you just need four or five olives (depending on size) which you mash in a dish and the smooth onto your face. Once it has dried wash it off gently with cool water and gently pat the skin dry.
Mix brown sugar, a little honey and lemon juice to make a scrub which will exfoliate your skin, and leave it super smooth. Rinse gently with warm water.
This is one of the easiest ways to get smooth skin as all you need is a little coconut oil. After cleansing massage the oil into your skin and leave it to work its magic overnight. In the morning wash it off gently. Coconut oil is a known antioxidant, and it helps to reduce bacteria which trigger spots as well as being an excellent moisturiser.
