For most people, moving from place to place is just a natural part of life. Whether it’s for a job, to move closer to (or farther away from) family, or simply because you want a change of scenery, there are a lot of reasons you might be moving.
Unfortunately though, moving isn’t the easiest process. It requires you to displace lots of your stuff and have everything in the correct order before the entire ordeal is finally complete, all the while having to juggle your normal day to day responsibilities.
Although difficult, there are some things you can do to make your whole moving process a lot less stressful.
1- Plan Your Move Way in Advance
Since moving can be a daunting process, you might be tempted to leave everything to the last minute just to avoid the hassle of it all. As you can imagine though, this is an absolutely terrible idea.
You should make sure to pack up, organize, and label all your things long before moving day comes, so when it arrives you don’t have to be scrambling to get everything together.
You should also definitely choose whether you’re going to be using a moving company, have friends help you move, or if you’re just going to go at it by yourself. That way you can accurately schedule everything without running into mishaps or misunderstandings.
If you’re planning on buying or selling a house in the process of a move, make sure you’ve got a good realtor who knows what they’re doing. There’s a lot of complicated details involved with real estate transactions and having someone with experience at your side will make everything run a lot more smoothly.
2- Try to Use the Same Sized Boxes
When moving, figuring out how to move and store everything is always going to be a concern. That’s why it’s a good idea to place your things in a box size that’s as universal as possible. If boxes are all roughly the same size, it will be easier to deal with space issues in a moving truck, since everything will naturally fit together. This method also applies to storage containers if you’re planning on using one of those.
3- Ask for Help If You Need It
Not everyone likes asking for help. In fact, lots of people are against the idea of having others help them out in their times of need.
However, moving can be a very confusing, time-consuming process with lots of different issues that would be much easier to deal with if you have multiple people lending you a hand. Don’t hesitate to receive an invitation for help from friends or family who are interested in making your moving process easier. This is especially good advice if you have limited experience with moving as other people might have some pretty good tips that could save you countless hours of work.
Stress can be a great motivating factor, but it can also leave you flustered and burned out if left unchecked. Make sure when you’re moving you’re working with the right people and don’t let the whole process intimidate you.
Believe in yourself, you got this!
