Some women who have breast augmentation choose to have their procedure done in certain countries. This is primarily due to the fact that the procedure is less expensive. In countries like the United States, Canada, and the UK, the cost for this procedure is between $6,100 and $7,000. In countries like Mexico, South Korea, and Brazil, it usually costs less than $5,000. If a woman wants to go to India for the procedure, the cost is only $1,500.
Some health professionals do not recommend traveling to another country for this procedure. According to Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in the United States, traveling to another country has its risks. For example, some of the implants that are used for the procedure might not have any health regulations, which could lead to complications. There is also the issue that not every country does the procedure the same way. In the United States, round implants are used, as opposed to anatomically shaped implants that are used in Europe and Asia.
Most plastic surgeons agree that round implants look much better than the anatomically shaped ones. There are also differences in the technique used and the post-surgery treatment. Women might not realize these things when traveling to a foreign country for implants, which is another reason that plastic surgeons warn women to not travel abroad for breast augmentation.
