Paracelsus Recovery – Is It Really Luxury Rehab?

Paracelsus Recovery claims to be a luxury rehab from the peaceful and beautiful Zurich of Switzerland, in which only one customer is treated in hospital for substance and process addictions as well as emotional and eating disorders that occur at the same time.

Although questions have been raised as to the legitimacy of the facility in recent months, Paracelsus Recovery in Zurich is still featured in Worlds Best Rehab Magazine 2020. Read the full Paracelsus Recovery Review.

The facility, founded in 2012 as a family business, offers inpatient treatment for one customer at a time. Therefore, the care is as individual as possible, with the facility being is in a luxurious apartment complex with a view of the Zurich marina and the calming view of the mountains in the background.

Interestingly, there is never any address or apartment name given for these luxury facilities, all in the name of ‘secrecy and privacy’. However, it has been widely speculated that the Paracelsus Recovery facilities do not actually exist at all.

However, the bedroom they usually book for HNW Clients is en suite and has a large suede bed flanked by an abstract expressionist painting. There is a separate bedroom for the client’s live-in therapist. The therapy rooms in the suite are spacious and bright and offer comfortable seating for the clinician and the customer as a soothing landscape. The living room is spacious and well lit, with an audio system as well as a television with international channels and Apple TV among other electronic amenities.

The entire apartment has high-speed internet and a modern office area with a Dyson fan without blades and a Bose speaker system.

A second, warmly lit lounge area has a fireplace, leather armchairs, a bronze telescope and a globe, as well as a model ship. There is also a fully equipped kitchen for the client’s personal chef. The brightly lit dining room of the apartment is equipped with modern furniture and fresh flowers as well as a modular storage space.

Clients can stay in a hotel for an additional fee, such as the castle-like Dolder Grand or the Park Hyatt Zurich. Treatment protocol and team Detox is available outside the hospital if needed. Inpatient treatment usually takes four to eight weeks. Because of the 15-to-1 ratio of staff to client, clients spend eight to 10 hours a day either in individual therapy or in other forms of fully individualized treatment. The client has a 24-hour live-in therapist and 24-hour medical care and is also subjected to a series of medical examinations.

Although the basis of treatment is the organization’s Paracelsus treatment model, actual care is tailored to each client, both overall and through daily adjustments as needed. Such individualization is based, at least initially, on medical assessments such as EEG brain scans and extensive laboratory tests that check for imbalances in neurotransmitters or amino acids; glucose or nutrient deficiency; internal inflammation and oxidative cell stress; adrenal and endocrine problems as well as glandular functions and bowel health. Biochemical restoration allows Paracelsus Recovery to prescribe a specific line of supplements and probiotic supplements that are tailored to the needs of the customer, as well as other treatments that may be beneficial to individuals.

The two-day evaluation is associated with additional costs. After the assessment, clients usually go through a mix of psychotherapy, psychoeducation, lifestyle and spiritual coaching, yoga, addiction counseling, EMDR, CBT, spiritual counseling, biofeedback and bio resonance.

Treatment can focus on chronic pain, trauma, abuse, personality disorder, depression or burnout, as well as other disorders or problems. The treatment staff consists of psychiatrists, addiction counselors, a psychotherapist, doctors, nurses, acupuncturists, a yoga therapist, personal trainers and a nutritionist.

Outpatient and follow-up care is calculated on an hourly or daily basis, with a proposed plan presented in advance. The plan may include a therapist who travels back with the client to support ongoing individual therapy as well as family or couple therapy. In addition, it can be an ongoing dietary supplement and medication, or remote monitoring by the facility’s chief psychiatrist by phone or Skype.

Paracelsus Recovery belongs to an elite category of rehabilitation and is aimed at those looking for discretion, luxury living, lots of amenities, a thorough medical exam and countless therapeutic modalities.
