Silicone Breast Implants
They are filled with a thick sticky fluid that is very similar to human fat called the silicone gel. It can be implanted on women of age 22 years and above for breast augmentation. It can be used on women of any age for breast reconstruction.
Saline Breast Implants
Live tissues are used in certain breast reconstruction procedure. After some days, they grow and reach its maximum size. At this time saline solution are injected into the implants. The implants become enlarged and stiff. This procedure is called Saline Breast Implant.
Risks Of Breast Implants
Both Saline and silicone implants have similar risks. They are as follows
- The surgery might leave a scar. It will distort the shape of the breast
- Very rarelypatient might face pain
- The surgical wound might get infected if not taken care well.
- The implant might get infected after 10 years. Though this is very rare. Many doctors recommend exchange of implants after 10 years to avoid infection. However, regular checkups and proper care prolongs the life time of the implants.
