In 2025, most CAD software designers have heard of SOLIDWORKS. It currently has over 8 million total users and over 850,000 certified SOLIDWORKS members. While in years past, CAD software might’ve been tied to a machine nowadays CAD can run on anything from a personal desktop to any portable laptop. Moreover, CAD has become much more than a tool for only industrial and mechanical designers in business. Academics, entrepreneurs, hobbyist 3D modelers, and even children all have a stake in SOLIDWORKS for a variety of use cases.
However, the future of SOLIDWORKS is on the horizon for all SOLIDWORKS enthusiasts. Recently, artificial intelligence (AI) has been included in the most recent iteration of this software. This AI is called Aura Ai and is meant to be a large language, generative AI. What this means is that this AI is meant to learn from user behavior and adapt rather than functioning like a simple google search. This means it can provide tailored solutions based on how you as a CAD designer work. It can also help you by turning a 3D project into a 2D drawing and converting an image to a sketch. Ultimately, regardless of why you use SOLIDWORKS, the inclusion of AI has made modeling even easier than ever before for your projects.
