How CBD can Help Mental, Physical and Emotional Health Conditions Over 40

Dr. Jim Collins is a gerontologist and the author of Living Longer and Stronger with CBD.  In his book, he discusses the impact CBD has on those with mental and emotional health challenges.  As an encyclopedia and “go to book” on CBD, Dr. Collins delves into everything from what CBD really is to why it works.

It is very important to note that there is a significant relationship between the endocannabinoid system, the cannabinoid receptors, and cannabinoids that CBD products activate and a proven correlation between their positive impact on mental health conditions and the proper use of the product itself. In addition, Dr. Collins also explains how CBD has the potential to both manage and to significantly reduce the symptoms associated with PTSD. Dr. Collins found in his research that CBD has the potential to treat many different forms of substance abuse and drug addiction because of the health benefits it provides.

Throughout Dr. Collins three decades of experience in the medical field, he has witnessed people from every demographic and almost every diagnosis use CBD. Whether it has been someone with normal depression or anxiety, substance abuse or addiction,  a strong case of schizophrenia, someone who has PTSD, or even a neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, or Huntington’s, Dr. Collins believes CBD may have been a better, more effective and safer option for those people. For those that suffer from substance abuse or another form of addiction, CBD, according to Dr. Collins, has the potential to change their lives for the better.

In 2017, nearly 20-million different Americans had either a substance use disorder or addiction of some type, and one out of eight adults dealt with a substance disorder and drug addiction at the same time. This is a staggering number.  And an area which medical professionals are consistently challenged with. The question commonly asked is “how can we help those with addictions and keep them healthy”?

CBD, when used properly and consistently could be the answer. Through Dr. Collins research, he found that researchers at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine found that, “CBD had an effective impact on heroin self-administration and drug-seeking behavior… (and that) CBD can be an effective treatment for cannabis withdrawal syndrome”. Furthermore, CBD works by getting in the way of the reward mechanisms in the brain that take charge for the different expressions of the reinforcing properties of opioids. Research has clearly demonstrated that CBD can truly be effective in helping treat people with heroin, cocaine, opioid, morphine, nicotine and alcohol addictions.

In terms of anxiety and depression, CBD has been long discussed as a potential resource that should be used in the treatment of people with anxiety and depression. In Living Longer and Stronger with CBD, Dr. Collins acknowledges that there has been more than enough research to show that due to CBD not producing any hallucination effect, it can be used to treat not only anxiety and depression, but also, panic disorders, social anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorders. Not to mention, in almost all cases that have been researched, there have been few to no side effects for people using CBD to treat any different form of anxiety or depression.

Dr. Collins, in his book, clearly explains that the relationship between the CB1 receptors need more endocannabinoids to protect them from the harshness associated with depression the patient is experiencing. Moreover, one of the biggest issues in today’s world is the wealth of prescription medications put into the body, when an organic substance like CBD will work just as well – if not better – like CBD to solve the same problem.  CBD has been proven in a wealth of studies to have the same – if not more impact in the reduction or removal of all symptoms associated with depression, anxiety and other related concerns. While some may be nervous and or scared to use CBD to help treat mental, physical, and emotional health conditions associated with these challenging diagnoses.  To learn more about CBD, its history or uses, turn to Living Longer and Stronger with CBD.  It provides a wealth of information and understanding about how this dynamic plant can potentially change our lives for the better.
