Tips For Building A Healthy Morning Routine

You probably heard once or twice as you were growing up that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it’s still true.  As cliche as it may sound, starting your day off right makes a huge impact on how the rest of your time plays out.

If you have a super busy life, it’s even more important that you start your day on a positive note.  Set yourself up for success every day, and teach yourself what a healthy morning routine truly involves.

Here is a brief overview of a few tips for building an empowering morning routine that will leave you ready to face the day.

Don’t allow yourself to hit the snooze button

It may be difficult to learn to truly tell yourself “no,” but you don’t benefit from hitting the snooze button in the morning.  Snoozing your alarm over and over again puts you at risk of being late.

When you’re rushed, you put yourself at a higher risk of a car accident on your way to work/school.  It’s important that you give yourself and your mind enough time to wake up before getting behind the wheel of a vehicle.

It’s also rather hard on your body to go in and out of a deep sleep.  Hitting the snooze button gives you just enough time to get back into your dream state before giving your brain a gnarly jerk back into reality.

End your morning shower with cold water

You’re welcome to grant yourself the comfort of a hot shower in the morning, but end your saturation ritual with a burst of cold water.  Shocking your body in such a way helps to boost your metabolism and get your body’s motor running in tune with the pace of life.

The burst of cold water on your skin will also close up your relaxed pores, preparing your skin to resist the dirt and grime of the day that lies ahead.  In layman’s terms, it’s great for your skin.

Take five minutes to stretch your body

You probably warm your car up in the dead of winter to better prepare your engine for the drive to work.  You should give your body the same care.

Before you head out for the day, take five minutes to stretch your arms, back, legs, and hips.  Get your body ready for all of the movement it’s about to conquer, so your vessel isn’t as shocked by the activity.

Drink a healthy dose of water

When you get out of bed in the morning, your body has already gone hours without a drink of water.  Start your day of right, and drink water with your breakfast. Coffee can dehydrate your body, and the caffeine puts unnecessary stress on your heart.
