5 Ways To Save Money On Beauty Products

If you’re anything like me, you’re probably familiar with the thrill that comes with purchasing a new beauty product.  Setting your sights on a shiny new product and then finally being able to call it your own is a feeling that keeps many of us coming back for more- and keeps beauty companies in business.  The downside is that all of this spending can put a not-so-pretty dent in our wallets, and you may find yourself rethinking your purchase after the rush wears off. Luckily, there are a few ways you can save money on your favorite beauty products, so you don’t have to miss out on that shopping trip with your girlfriends!

Join A Subscription Service

Beauty subscription services have been all the rage recently.  Companies like Birchbox, Ipsy, and FabFitFun all offer subscription “boxes” that are delivered right to your doorstep monthly or seasonally.  These boxes are packed with either trial or full-sized products for you to play with and are all affordably priced. In addition to beauty subscription services, there are now similar services for wellness, hair and feminine products.  A tampon subscription could come in handy the next time your period rears its ugly head!

Look For Sales

Sales on beauty products aren’t just limited to Black Friday!  Stores like Ulta, Sephora, and even Target frequently hold sales, allowing you to purchase new products at a discounted price.  One of the easiest ways to find out when your favorite stores are having sales is by following them on social media. Stores will typically share any information about sales and special promotions with their followers, so you’ll be the first to know when that new eyeshadow palette you’ve been eyeing finally goes on sale!

Shop Online

Your choice of beauty products isn’t just limited to the drugstore!  Makeup companies like ColourPop, Lime Crime, and Glossier have made a name for themselves by selling their products solely online, creating a sense of allure and exclusivity for customers.  Each brand offers something different- Glossier, for instance, has really cornered the market on the “no makeup” makeup look, and their products provide the perfect “I woke up like this” glow.  These brands range in price, but all are still affordable and deliver quality products that rival the high-end ones you’d find in Ulta or Sephora.

Sign Up For Rewards Programs

Signing up for beauty rewards programs is another great way to save money on beauty products.  Many rewards programs allow you to earn “points” after every purchase and work towards a free product or discount.  Sephora’s Beauty Insider program is one of the most popular, and ranks members by “Insider”, “VIB”, and “Rouge.”  Each level comes with different perks, with Rouge being the highest. Once a Beauty Insider member has reached Rouge status, they can be eligible for special perks, including free 2-day shipping and private event invitations.  Tons of other stores like Ulta, Sally Beauty, and even CVS have their own rewards programs for beauty lovers, so consider joining one (or several!) of these programs to maximize your savings!

Ask For Samples

The best way to see if you like a product is to test it out!  A lot of stores offer free samples so that you could test out a product before you make a purchase, allowing you to make a more informed decision.  Samples can range anywhere from one-time use to something you can get several uses out of, giving you more time to test out a product and see if you like it.  Most stores won’t have a problem giving you samples if you ask politely, and some even include a handful of sample-size products with every purchase!
