Improving Your Shape as You Age

Depending on the speed of your metabolism, the aging process can really impact your ability to maintain a certain size, shape and weight. What felt really easy to maintain in your early 20s is extremely difficult when you hit your mid-30s. It only gets more challenging as you age. Thankfully, there are some practical ways that you evolve in your physical appearance, stay in shape and feel great about your body.

Try supplemental products
Instead of taking steroids or harmful supplements, do your research to find all-natural options that will provide the vitamins and minerals your body needs to thrive. When it’s time to exercise, do your research on CBD. CBD products are pretty popular among athletes and bodybuilders because of their ability to improve their fitness performance. Always talk to your physician before taking anything first to make sure it won’t interfere with pre-existing issues or medications.

Get your rest
Rest is more important than a lot of people realize. If you’re not sleeping well, it’s going to be hard for your body to release weight or take care of itself. When you’re asleep, this is the body’s chance to recover from the day before. The same way your muscles need a recovery period in between workouts, your body needs a chance to recover and reset itself as well. When a person gets sick, one of the best ways to heal faster involves lots of rest. As you drink lots of fluids and sleep, your body will heal on its own. Work on developing a great bedtime routine and sleep regimen in order to help you get the best rest you possibly can.

Maintain a vigorous exercise routine
While weight management and weight loss are more about what you eat rather than your workout, a strong, vigorous workout routine will definitely help you in the long run. Challenge your body with various workouts throughout the week. Incorporate swimming, strength-training and the elliptical machine for a diversity of movement. As you keep your body guessing, it’ll be easier to avoid the plateau.

Monitor the times you eat
For many people, it’s customary and instinctual to consume three meals a day. While that might be great when you’re younger, it’s not necessarily a great idea as you get older. If you eat at any time of the day without any rhyme or reason, it’s a lot easier to gain weight. One of the easiest ways you can stay on top of unwanted weight gain is by controlling the times you eat. Consider implementing an intermittent fasting regimen where you eat between a certain number of hours while you fast for the other hours. The most popular option is 16:8. People will fast for 16 hours (this includes the time you’re asleep). They will eat between an eight-hour time period. This doesn’t mean you should binge during the eight-hour time period. However, it does give some structure to help you remain mindful of how much you’re eating during any given day.

It’s okay if you don’t look as thin as you did in your high school prom pictures. It’s important to remember that your body will change. However, you do have control over the way you maintain your overall health. With all of these tips, you’re bound to continue to look your best as you age gracefully.
