Is Dragon’s Blood Good for your Skin?

There are a lot of skincare products out there nowadays. In fact, there’s way too many to keep a count of. What with all the big brands bringing out more and more expensive creams and celebrities bringing out their own personalised products, it can often feel as though there’s too many to choose from as well. However, I think we should all be staying away from these celebrity-approved brands and products. They never tend to be any better than ordinary products and simply lead to us wasting money and lining their pockets. A trend I’ve got on board with recently is that of using more unorthodox products for skincare. These include the likes of snail secretions, which may sound disgusting but is really good for you. Another, which we’re going to discuss today, is the use of dragon’s blood. What is this though? Does it have any real benefits? Stay tuned to find out.

Dragon’s blood has risen to prominence as one of the top skincare products in recent years, but what actually is it? To put it simply, it’s the sap that comes from the dragon tree, a family of trees found in tropical countries. It comes in a dark red colour, helping to give it its fantasy story-like name. It sounds like a daunting product to use, but believe us when we say it’s not. It was originally thought to be a sort of miracle product which could be used for almost any illness or condition. This was thought to be the case in places like China, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, and the Middle East. However, more recent medical research has confirmed that it isn’t a one-size-fits-all product and is instead better at treating different individual conditions.

One of the dragon’s blood benefits is skincare. It is particularly effective at helping with acne for a variety of different reasons. Dragon’s blood comes with a strong anti-inflammatory property, which forms the basis for its healing properties. Acne often involves quite a lot of swelling and inflammation, so these properties help to counteract that and give your face a smoother, more natural look. It also has a strong antibacterial property, which helps to fight infections. Acne is most often caused by a bacterial infection of some kind, so it helps to fight against this and cure you of the condition. If you use it before contracting acne, it’ll help you from getting it at all; it’s a good preventative measure to take. Dragon’s blood also allows you to heal from acne slowly and surely, greatly reducing the chances of you scarring from it (which is always a big fear).
Dragon’s blood helps to fight against generic skin conditions as well. It helps to form a sort of protective layer over your skin, which helps in a variety of ways. This helps to keep much-needed moisture on and in your skin at all times, keeping your skin moisturised when it needs to be the most. It also helps to keep any infections or diseases out, improving the overall health of your skin.
