Pulse Light Clinic’s Lock-down Skin Regimes

We are usually so busy with our working demands and family lives, we sometimes neglect ourselves. There is also a tendency toward caution when trying out new hair styles, dress codes, and skincare regimes just in case they go disastrously wrong, because we all know, it’s no fun to sit on a train with that outrageous hair colour that doesn’t suit us after all (when it looked so fabulous on Salma Hayek!)

What a fabulous opportunity we have now, to try out all kinds of home made beauty tricks, with plenty of downtime available if things don’t quite turn out as expected. Using foods on our skin can have surprising results, although one size does not fit all, and what is one girl’s skin medicine can be another girl’s Bridget Jones’ disaster.

Here are a few recipes to try out, and who knows, it could become a staple in your skin care routine, even after lock-down.

1. You have dry skin, wrinkles and a few ghastly age spots:

Skin Boosting Recipe

Mix together:

1 Tablespoon Avocado

1 Tablespoon Honey

6 drops of Lavender Essential Oil

Apply to clean skin, relax for 15 minutes and wipe off with a tissue. Then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

2. You have acne-prone skin with scars and pigmentation:

Skin Soothing Recipe

Mix together:

½ Teaspoon Turmeric

½ Teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar

1 Teaspoon Yoghurt

1 Tablespoon Raw Honey

3 Drops Tea Tree Essential Oil

Aim for a thick consistency that will not drip. If it is too runny, slowly add some oats to soak up liquid and thicken.

Apply to a clean face, relax for 15 minutes, rinse well and pat dry.

CAUTIONS: test a small area of skin first, because some skin types have a allergic reaction to Turmeric. It also may leave the skin yellow, which can be removed with gentle soap and water. Use carefully because it will stain what it comes into contact with!

3. You have normal skin that’s blemish-free but the complexion is dull

Skin Revitalising Scrub Recipe:

Mix together:

2 Teaspoons of sea salt

4 teaspoons honey

Apply evenly to skin, rub gently in circular motions all over, relax for 15 minutes then rinse and pat dry. Apply your favourite moisturiser or smooth ½ teaspoon of coconut oil over the face, avoiding the eyes, and use a tissue to pat off excess oil after 10 minutes.

A Grand Finale for any night-time skin care regime is to use a Vitamin C based serum. You can make your own by combining Aloe Vera Gel, Vitamin C Powder, and an Essential Oil (Lemon OR Lavender OR Tea Tree). Avoid using before sun exposure.

Tips:

  • Raw honey has properties that can be used to treat and heal burns, dandruff, dermatitis, psoriasis and more!
  • Regular use of Turmeric can lighten age spots and hyperpigmentation
  • Lavendar Oil promotes good sleep and reduces anxiety.
  • Using a Vitamin C based Serum daily has been reported to reduce ageing by as much as 10 years in 3 months!
