The reason why antioxidants are so good for you is the fact that they fight against free radicals in your body. Free radicals are behind the destruction of cells in our body and thus it is important to have a lot of healthy antioxidants in your diet.

One of the cells that the free radicals tend to attack is the heart and thus a glass of red wine a day can reduce your risk of heart disease. Drinking red wine will prevent the free radicals from destroying the cell.
Red wine is also full of healthy flavonoids that are really good at protecting your body from the bad cholesterol. High levels of this bad cholesterol, called LDL, can lead to cardiovascular disease.

All in all by having a glass of red wine a day you can limit the aging process in your body and some studies even suggest it is able to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Moderate wine drinkers have much lower mortality rate than people who drink beer and thus you can stay healthy and young by opting for an occasional wine glass.
So if you are looking to keep your body and mind healthy having that occasional glass of red wine isn’t a bad idea at all. Just remember that anything more than one or two glasses each day and the effects will be reversed.
