Fun Fall Date Ideas to Enhance Romance

While it’s always a little bit sad to see summer go, there’s something a bit magical that happens when the air begins to cool and holiday festivities begin. Also, there’s no doubt about it…this is the season for lovebirds. So, if you need a few ideas to rekindle the romance or stoke a fresh fire, here’s a few ideas to get ya going.

Organize a Cozy Cabin Getaway

Something about fall just screams cabin. And depending on where you live in the U.S. (like Southern California, for example) the whole cabin thing isn’t really an architectural staple. Consider surprising your sweetheart by booking a cabin getaway on Airbnb for two. Especially with the holiday season ramping up with parties, festivities and family visits, your loved one will surely appreciate a chance to sneak away for some alone time before the events really go full swing. If you want to score some extra points, pull together a special seasonal gift bag with some fall favorites: pumpkin spice bread, hot cocoa and a bottle of wine or two… the perfect recipe for romance. While you’re there, pamper yourselves with new skin masks for him and her, and take a nice hot bath and soak up some much-deserved relaxation.

Go Pumpkin Picking

While you may be a little past your prime for trick-or-treating, you’re never too old to celebrate Halloween. And, while perhaps you’ve never considered Halloween an amorous holiday per say, it certainly has plenty of “cuteness” potential.  Don’t believe it? Plan a pumpkin-picking date for you and your significant other. There are likely plenty of patches in your area, and many of them have fall activities going on during the season, from apple bobbing and hayrides to small petting zoos and corn mazes. But here’s how you really amp up the occasion and add a bit of Halloween magic: pick out a costume for your and date to wear while you pumpkin shop. And if detailed costuming isn’t really your thing, don’t worry! There’s plenty of adult Halloween costumes on the market that are super cozy, like the themed onesies from Tipsy Elves, for example, which are pretty much like wearing pajamas.

Plan An Adventurous Fall Themed Itinerary

Does your city have a neighborhood that’s notorious for its haunted houses? What about a spot in town that does cemetery tours, or a dive bar that has pumpkin carving and apple pie contests? Or, maybe there’s a killer Oktoberfest in your area? Do a bit of research and try to collect between five and 10 unusual or special fall events that are unique to your city or town. Put them all together to create a special seasonal guide.  You can knock ‘em all in one day, or if certain activities happen on different dates, go the extra mile and make an official, printed out plan with the personalized itinerary!

Get Cookin’

Whether you’re already a competent cook or a microwave meal professional, taking a cooking class at a place like Sur La Table with your loved one is a great way to spend quality time together while also learning how to cook a new dish. Often, these classes are held by knowledgeable culinary experts who provide students with a unique opportunity to learn about a variety of techniques, ingredients, and even how to bring out certain flavors with the right wine pairing. This is a great opportunity to learn something new together and it’s a creative diversion from the usual, “dinner out.”  Take a look at the offerings in your area to see what’s available.

Go Old School

You two may frequent the movie theater on fairly regular occasion, but when was the last time you went to the drive-in? Take a look at the schedule for the drive-in closest to you to see what holiday features they have planned. Often, for the price of one ticket you’ll get a two-show viewing. Make sure to bring your comfiest blankets and pillows so you can cuddle up, and put together a special goody bag with all their favorite candies and snacks, and don’t forget a thermos of apple cider or cocoa.
