What You Need To Know About PT 141

Human sexuality is often a difficult subject for most people to talk about. It’s embarrassing or taboo for many. But people who suffer from performance issues or low sex drive do not have to suffer. There are studies that suggest sexual activity has been consistently plummeting year over year within the U.S. For generations. This is where PT 141 comes in. The clinical name is Bremelanotide and it is a libido enhancer for men and women.

The sex drive is often influenced by chemical, environmental or physiological factors, not forgetting one’s own biology. The good news is there is help available.

Actress Suzanne Somers, best known for her role in TV sitcom Three’s Company, admitted that both she and her husband took PT 141, calling in their “sex shots”. In her 70’s, she admits that her sex life is virile.

Is PT 141 the Female Viagra?

Actually, PT 141 can be used by men and women. It was originally designed to help premenopausal women. Being that Bremelanotide is a melanocortin-based peptide, it helps with a number of biological functions.

Specifically, melanocortin peptide is responsible for the body’s function or response to fever, neural activity, cardiovascular activity, sensitivity to pain, and inflammation as well as social and sexual behavior.

According to the director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research’s Division of Bone, Reproductive and Urologic Products, Hylton V. Joffe, MD, MMSc stated: “There are women who, for no known reason, have reduced sexual desire that causes marked distress, and who can benefit from safe and effective pharmacologic treatment. [The approval of PT 141] provides women with another treatment option.”

What Does Bremelanotide Do?

Human sexuality is complicated. There are certain triggers and receptors that happen within the body to get “in the mood.” Bremelanotide is a synthetic peptide that helps spark sexual arousal in women. PT 141 includes seven amino acids that are categorized as melanocortin receptor agonist. The agonist binds to receptors thereby triggering a biological response. It is designed to stimulate parts of the brain that control arousal and pleasure centers.

How Fast Does PT 141 Work?

In some cases, PT 141 is best taken between 45 minutes to an hour before sexual activity. That is approximately how long it takes for both injections or nasal spray options to begin feeling one’s libido.

PT 141 should not be taken more than once every 72 hours or exceed eight times a month.

Peptide therapy can come with some side effects which include nausea, headaches, vomiting, and increased blood pressure. There may be discomfort at the injection site, and the nasal spray option can cause nose irritation.

PT 141 is not recommended for people with cardiovascular issues because of the increased risk of higher blood pressure.

Injection or Nasal Spray?

The nasal spray option is effective and gets into the bloodstream rather quickly however, some things to keep in mind are extenuating factors like other medications like allergy sprays. Speak to a healthcare provider or pharmacist about the pros and cons of nasal spray or PT 141 injections.

Sex is one of the most basic functions we have as humans. Low sex drive and lack of arousal can be affected by many factors including the effects of aging or health factors, to environment and emotional well being.
According to The Society for Women’s Health Research, on the very low end of estimation, approximately one in ten women suffer from low libido. If Suzanne Somers can have a healthy and active sex life in her 70s, then so can the rest of us. The risk factors of PT 141 are low but the benefits are high.
