3 Myths Stopping You From Investing In Your Appearance

In today’s world, appearance is everything. People who are considering undergoing some kind of physical change are often mocked and ridiculed by people who don’t understand what they are going through. The physical change can be anything from deciding to lose weight, undergoing a hair transplant, or breast reduction. No matter how big or small the issue, there always seems to be so much outside resistance against making a change for the better.

What many people don’t realize is that there is no talk worse than your own negative self talk. It is your own perspective on your self-image that will stop you from making a decision that could very well change the course of your life. Here are some things you may have said to yourself to keep you from making positive change in your own appearance.

#1 I don’t deserve change

When choosing to make a radical change to your appearance, you may tell yourself that you don’t deserve change. Investments in your appearance like hair transplants or breast augmentation are often thought of as luxurious splurges that only the rich and famous can afford. This is not so. Why would you not deserve to feel your best when you look in the mirror? Your self image affects the way you show up in life. If you are not feeling your most confident, then you won’t be able to convince the person interviewing you for a job about the value you can bring to the company. If your self esteem is low, you may hang your head in social situations, too embarrassed to speak up and meet people. You deserve to have confidence and live the life you know you were meant to live.

#2 I can’t spend that much money on myself

You may use the excuse that a hair transplant costs too much money. Perhaps you have other more pressing issues in your life other than your hair line. The issue of money is very much related to feelings of being deserving, our first myth. Maybe you are one of those people who will always put the needs of others before yourself. The truth of the matter is that if you do not choose to invest in yourself, no one else will. You cannot sit and wait for others to see the value in you first before deciding to bet on yourself.

#3 People will talk about me

Here is the truth: people will talk about you no matter what you do. If you decide that the hair transplant cost or your weight loss plan is too much, people will pick apart your appearance. “Why is she eating that burger if she knows she’s so fat?” “Who does he think he’s fooling with that combover?” If you get up and take control of your own life, people will say that you are too pushy and full of yourself. In either case, there is just no pleasing everyone! In the end you may as well do what is best for your life.

Deciding to invest in your appearance is one of the best investments you will ever make. We only have one body, and one life and it is up to us to make the best of it. Don’t let feelings of being undeserving, not having enough money, or being worried about what others will say about you get in the way of your dreams.
