Top 10 Causes of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer women suffer from worldwide. The survival rate of breast cancer depends on the early diagnostics. The stages 0, 1 and 2 can easily be treated, while 3 and 4 are harder to deal with. In the developed countries, over 70 % of women go through mammography every year, decreasing the deadly cancer cases.

The treatment for breast cancer differs from chemotherapy to homeopathy. Thousands of studies have been done to prove or disprove the effectiveness of each method separately and several of them together. Can breast cancer be prevented? In order to understand this, you need to know the top causes.

1. Wrong Diet

A bad diet has been proven to increase a woman’s chances to develop breast cancer. The most dangerous ingredients are hormones in meats and dairy products. Nowadays, most of the farm animals receive artificial hormones in order to grow faster and become fatter. Besides causing the animals to suffer from various conditions, these hormones can affect the way a human body functions.

Another way to prevent cancer is to maintain a healthy weight. Studies have shown that diets high in fat can lead to breast cancer. Meanwhile, regular alcohol intake may promote the disease.

2. Dental Work

One of the common but rarely explained causes of breast cancer is an infection received while getting dental work done. Root canals offer great access to cancer-causing bacteria. It goes down to the person’s liver making it harder to fight the toxins. The constant re-infection of the body leads to cancer.

3. Bacteria

The cancer-causing bacteria is something the body can conquer. However, when the immune system is weakened by the wrong diet or medical manipulations, it can spread. If the bacteria is not battled, it spreads via lymph to the breast. The normal healthy cells are then populated by the microbes. As a result, they become cancerous.

4. Genetics

About five to ten percent breast cancer cases are believed to be hereditary. The scientists found two breast cancer genes, the carriers of which have a higher risk of getting breast cancer. Women, who have the gene, have 45% – 65 % chance of developing breast cancer.

If a woman’s female relative (mother, sister, daughter) has breast cancer, she has a greater risk of developing it as well. One relative with cancer doubles the risk. Two relatives triple it.

5. Genetically-Modified Organisms (GMO)

Some researchers believe that GMO products can lead to cancer by lowering the immune response. For example, soybeans contain a clot-promoting substance, which can lead to heart problems. Processed foods may lead to unhealthy cell formation. Today, it’s possible to avoid or at least cut down on GMO in one’s diet.

6. Preservatives

The agents that make food last longer also take the vitamins out of it and add some chemicals. BHT and BHA can change the cell structure and cause breast cancer. The same can be said about food coloring. If you need to use food coloring for cooking, you can find natural alternatives. Unfortunately, food manufacturers rarely do.

7. Beauty Products

Most beauty products available on the market today contain a great share of toxins and chemicals. Reading the labels can make one’s head spin. Most of the ingredients are far from being healthy. The regular use of toxins on the skin and hair can lead to cancer.

8. Frequent X-Rays

X-rays can cause cancer. Most of the time, the amount of radiation people get in the doctor’s office, in the dentist’s chair or at the airport is minimal. However, some people are frequent fliers while others may need to get frequent dental x-rays. Avoiding these radiation sessions can help prevent breast cancer. Opt for a pat down instead of an x-ray machine at the airport and ask for a special breast cover during x-raying.

9. Hormonal Therapy

Many hormonal changes may lead to breast cancer. That is why any hormonal therapy must be administered with care. Many women start such therapies after menopause trying to relieve the unpleasant symptoms. Talking to the doctor and limiting the therapy may decrease the risk of getting breast cancer.

10.   No Pregnancy

Women, who have never been pregnant, have a higher risk of developing breast cancer than women who had at least one pregnancy.

About 12% of women in the United States will develop cancer in their lifetime. Trying to decrease the risks may help some of them prevent it. Meanwhile, the right and timely treatment can battle the disease.
