What you should know about hair growth methods

Hair loss is a very frustrating problem because many “guaranteed” products do not work. Since allopathic medicine offers very few options, people have to resort to alternative solutions.

Hair growth methods for hair loss

So what is there to know about hair growth methods? Here are some ways to help hair grow for men and women suffering loss for any reason.

Massage

Massaging the scalp with or without hair oils and masks stimulates the scalp and improves hair growth and thickness. It also relieves tension and stress.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera soothes the scalp, conditions hair, unblocks hair follicles that are blocked by oils and is great for treating hair loss. Apply gel several times per week or use aloe vera shampoo and conditioner.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil applied to the hair and scalp for a few hours or overnight before shampoo or applied after shampoo penetrates the hair shaft, reduces protein loss from hair and promotes growth.

Supplements

A supplement containing vitamins, minerals and shark and mollusk powder enhances hair growth in people suffering from thinning hair. It which regenerate new cells and strengthen existing hair cells.

Fish oil contains omega fatty acids that improve hair health from inside, improve hair density and diameter and reduce hair loss.

Ginseng, when taken orally, promotes hair growth by stimulating hair follicles.

Onion juice

Fresh onion juice applied topically is known to treat patchy hair loss by promoting hair growth and improving circulation. Apply it to the scalp and hair and leave it in for 15 minutes and then shampoo.

Rosemary oil

Rosemary essential oil, added to a carrier oil and used to massage hair and scalp before rinsing, promotes hair growth and reduces hair loss by stimulating new hair growth. It’s been proven to be effective for male baldness. It can also be added to conditioner.

Geranium oil

Geranium essential oil promotes hair growth, boosts circulation, and hydrates, strengthens and restores hair. Add it to a conditioner or add a few drops into a carrier oil and use the oil as a hair mask.

Lemon

Fresh lemon juice or lemon essential oil (in a carrier oil) can be applied to the scalp before shampoo to enhance hair growth and quality and improve scalp health.

General hair growth methods

Hair only grows so much per month depending on race and for Caucasians is a little more than 5 inches (13cm) per year. Here are ways to grow it a bit faster.

Get constant trims

Hair should be trimmed a little bit every 10 to 12 weeks to prevent/remove split ends. If left untrimmed, split ends continue down the shaft leaving very short healthy hair.

Balanced diet

Hair needs sufficient nutrients in order to grow. Eating a balanced diet rich in plant foods will supply the vitamins, folic acid, biotin and protein that the hair needs to grow healthy.

Hair supplements

The body will shut down hair growth first if there is a shortage of nutrients therefore people who believe they are not getting sufficient nutrients should take vitamins.

Shampoo less often

It’s better to shampoo less often because most shampoos contain sulfates that strip away natural oils that the hair needs for growth and health. It’s also wiser to shampoo with a sulfate-free shampoo or aloe vera gel which are gentle on the hair. Lather and clean the scalp first and let the hair get shampoo during the rinse.

Rinse with cold water

Rinsing for a few seconds with cold water at the end of the shower lays down the outer layers of the hair more smoothly which prevents snags, moisture loss and heat damage and gives hair a boost of growth power.

Always use conditioner

The conditioner is the first defense against damage that destroy long-hair goals. It seals the outer cuticle, replaces proteins and lipids inside the hair shaft and prevent damage and breakage caused by coloring and heat styling. Dry your hair with a microfiber towel that is gentle on the hair.

DIY deep conditioner

Long hair is old so it needs more tender loving care than a normal conditioner can give. This can be achieved through a natural oil treatment. Mix 1 cup unrefined coconut oil and 1 tablespoon each of jojoba oil, almond oil and macadamia nut oil. Dampen the hair, apply the oil, leave it on for 10 minutes, and then shampoo and condition.

Other tips

Avoid heat tools and bleach which damage hair. Brush the hair gently with a natural boar bristle brush. Use a silk pillow case. To avoid breakage due to tension, change from the tight ponytail, bun or braids to a gentler hair style.
